Art Gallery
Art galleries have recently set a new precedent. In the past few years, more and more art galleries and other institutions have been emerging with fundraiser events to support the victims of abuse, be it domestic, sexual, or substance. Fund raising for a worthy cause has been a trend for years, yet the combination of support for abuse victims and art functions is new on the scene. Bringing fund raising to a new clientele opens up opportunity for reaching new heights in the realm of abuse.
Fund raising events in the art gallery field include the selling of specialty made pieces or a gala-like event. Whatever the mode, art galleries have been donating to attempt to help abuse victims. Many foundations have been set up to offer support, therapy, and a bank of funds to help these individuals. Furthermore, these organizations have been set up to provide the same tools to friends and families of abuse victims, allowing them to help their loved ones heal from the scars of abuse. Although trauma caused by abuse is hard to erase and at time may be permanent, it is an important cause to which many people are dedicating their careers.
Art galleries have start playing a large part in supporting these various foundations. One of the largest causes supported by this medium is animal abuse. This cause of protecting animal rights is growing and becoming a prominent topic on the art gallery scene, as well on the international news scene as well! There are an increasing amount of protesters stationing themselves outside of department stores and other facilities that they believe to be unethical. In fact, because the issue of animal abuse has been causing such a large amount of controversy, art galleries have been feeding off the publicity. Not in a selfish way, though. Art gallery curators realize the impact that these issues have on society and are attempting to expose them, for the purpose of one day preventing the issue all together.
Animal abuse is highly controversial because of the wide range of issues it spans. From PETA campaigns to department store sales, animal rights area focus for many passionate members. In fact, these protests have taken a global scale through mediums like the internet and large organized protests which make international headlines. Many artists have caught onto the trend and have began addressing animal abuse in a variety of art mediums. Therefore, art galleries support the issue, for it is both controversial and popular.
Furthermore, many art galleries focus their fund raising efforts on fashion. Since fashion is considered to be closely related to animal abuse (leather and fur fashion ware, an often protested cause), these events bring a lot of attention to the scene. Fashion exhibitions, focusing on the artistry of clothes, allow art galleries to bring publicity and visitors out of their homes and toward their stage. Proceeds are donated to numerous causes, including the force to end animal abuse.
